Dear Balbriggan is a publication and love letter to the Irish town of Balbriggan. Curated by Matthew Kelly, the objective of the publication was to highlight Balbriggan as one of Ireland's artistic hubs, featuring works of poetry, pros and art from members of the community. There have been multiple volumes of the publication, including the two 2023 editions entitled "Summer of Love" and "Winter Waltz", which featured the pieces shown below.
"Summer of Love" was the title for the Summer 2023 edition of "Dear Balbriggan". This illustration was inspired by the raging red sunsets from end of day hikes in the Irish countryside.
"Winter Waltz" was the title for the Winter 2023 edition of "Dear Balbriggan". This illustration was inspired by the Brothers Grimm tale "The Shepard's Boy", specifically the line "How many seconds of time are there in eternity?". The story of a bird chiseling away a mountain inspired the image of an artist and their sculpture.
